Netvibes is a customizable web page where you can add widgets (such as igoogle but with a better design). The 5 star widgets I think are most important to note are gmail and facebook as well as an rss feed application where you can add you favorite blogs (not gonna say anything). Netvibes recently added a move and drop feature in their NETVIBES GINGER BETA and even more awesome. There are several different codes that you can enter to get into this private version (note: some might be already be used up as they were all set up with a number of invites): FACEBOOK, TCGINGER500, 100GINGERWW, and WIREDGIN100 (you also need an account before you sign up.) If you can’t get that, well I MIGHT be able to help you out…Sign Up Here

If you want, more widgets. You can also make one at Orchestr8. They have a cool clipping thing where you can get a website and clip any part of it. Check it out. It’s a must try. Heres my version of it:

youtorrent.jpgLike illegally and legally downloading music, movies, and more? Really? Me too (note: not really!) YouTorrent is the newest search engine available. It searches many of the pirate websites including BitTorrent and allows you to download them. It also compares the results of the pirate sites so you can make the correct choice and most likely not get a virus on your computer. As it is a search engine, not an actual pirate date site, it may not be shut down. However, it may so try it now!

SciFi Google

January 20th, 2008

Think Google knows everything? Well now it knows more. Google is opening up terabytes of information on databases for scientists. 120 terabytes of images will be taken from the Hubble Space Telescope and the Archimedes Palimpsest. Google will also be creating a Youtube like social site for these scientists so they can create an experiment and have others comment on their project. Cool, eh?

There has already been people playing music on video sites like YouTube, but what about that superstar favorite of yours? He/she wouldn’t play on a silly site like that where you get no money. But how about Deep Rock Drive? As boring as the name sounds, it’s actually a pretty awesome idea. Get 1000 people to sign a petition for a particular band or artist and then the site gets the band to come over to their studios and give a over the web live concert. Here’s how it works, the band goes into this studio with cameras surrounding them and two huge screens. The surrounding cameras allow any user who is watching to pick the view they crave. One of the huge screens are actually to show the band what the viewers are saying. Yes. You can actually ask your favorite band to play your favorite song. The last screen is the background screen. You know, the ones that you see in any top notch concert. The tickets only cost about $6.00.

(Note: “music” is now added as a category and “movies” has been changed to “videos”)

wixlogoIn the past, creating flash websites or Flash greeting cards meant you had to be an advanced technoguy and use programs such as Adobe’s Flash, but Wix has a better option for the more simple minded and cheaper people. Using Flash themselves, Wix allows users to seamlessly drag photos and videos across the page, add effects and backgrounds to create your own world. Then you can easily embed your flash greetings or websites into your favorite social network or your website. My computer’s not fast at all and yet this website allows me to move fast in creating something special. As I have not yet finished my website (a project on Global Warming) here is an example of what you can do with these tools that Wix can give you. Right now, the website just slipped into private beta and I can see many bugs that they will have to iron out, so it may be quite a while before the site goes public. What can you do to ensure that you will get access at some point in the beta stage or at least be notified when it goes public? Sign Up Now!

(EDITORS NOTE : As I see more flash startups in the future, I have created a Flash Category.)

Sorry about the two week Break

December 22nd, 2007

Hey guys, Sorry about the two week break, but I had some work to get done. Now the holiday brake is coming and I’ll have more time to post. www.spokeo.com gives you a news feed, just like Facebook, that finds your friends on places you didn’t even know they were. It seems a bit creepy, but the news on the feed is accessible to you already, you just didn’t know where they were. For this, we are opening up a new category called “social.”

Gizmodo got a hold of the Android prototype. It doesn’t look too good in a pic, but hey, it’s just a homemade pic.
